Prime minister in contact with US

According to an email from Jenna Ghassabeh, Justin Trudeau’s press secretary, the prime minister has been told “by the national security and intelligence adviser about the situation in Niagara Falls,” per CBC.

The email said the Prime Minister’s Office is “in contact with the U.S officials. The minister of public safety, RCMP and CBSA are fully engaged and providing all necessary support.”

Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition reported a crash

The bridge was blocked on both sides as a result of a collision, according to a report from the Niagara International Transportation Technology Coalition.

A representative for the mayor’s office in Niagara Falls said that a car was attempting to cross into the US.

Bridges being closed down

The Rainbow Bridge connects the cities of Niagara Falls, USA, and Niagara Falls, Canada.

The bridge is located less than a mile from the popular tourist destination

The Peace Bridge, Lewiston-Queenston Bridge, Whirlpool Bridge, and Rainbow Bridge are all closed in both directions, according to the general manager of the Peace Bridge, Ron Reinas. 

Statement from FBI Buffalo

FBI Buffalo has shared a statement on its X account, which reads: “The FBI Buffalo Field Office is investigating a vehicle explosion at the Rainbow Bridge, a border crossing between the U.S. and Canada in Niagara Falls.

“The FBI is coordinating with our local, state and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. As this situation is very fluid, that’s all we can say at the time.”

Attempted ‘terror attack’

Fox News correspondent Alexis McAdams reports high-level police sources revealed they believe the vehicle explosion was an attempted terrorist attack.

The car was reportedly full of explosives and both men inside have been confirmed dead, McAdams reports.

Buffalo FBI field office comments on ‘terror attack’

In a statement, the field office said: “The FBI Buffalo Field Office is investigating a vehicle explosion at the Rainbow Bridge, a border crossing between the US and Canada in Niagara Falls. 

“The FBI is coordinating with our local, state, and federal law enforcement partners in this investigation. 

“As this situation is very fluid, that’s all we can say at this time,” the bureau said. 

The horror blast involving the vehicle on Rainbow Bridge was reported on Wednesday afternoon and is currently believed to have been an attempted “terror attack.”
