Crunchy clothes is a term used when there’s soap residue in your clothes from all the times they have been washed, making them uncomfortable to wear.
TikTok user Krystalynn Gier (@KrystalynnGier) received a comment from a viewer asking for laundry tips.
“Whenever I air dry my clothes, they come out really stiff and uncomfortable,” the person wrote. “Is there a way to avoid this or is that just part of air drying?”
Krystalynn said she knew exactly what the problem was and offered her advice.
“Air drying your clothes will keep them in tip-top shape,” she said. “It saves you money and is good for the planet.
“If you’re struggling with crunchy clothes after air drying, try one of these three things and see if it works for you.”
The first tip Krystalynn suggested was using less detergent or fabric softener.
“If you use too much, it leaves residue on your clothes which will make them stiff,” she said.
The next tip is to shake the clothes out before putting them on the drying rack.
“It seems simple but it does wonders.”
Lastly, Krstalynn suggests steaming stubborn clothes for less wrinkles and to help them not feel as rough.
Krstyalynn’s comments were full of viewers who thanked her for the advice as they were struggling with the same issue.
“I needed this so bad!!” wrote one person. “I was trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.”
“Love this video!” wrote another person.
A third wrote: “Wait, I actually needed this video right now.”
Others offered their own tips.
“Vinegar in the wash helps too!” wrote one person.
“I usually throw them in the dryer for just a few min (sic) on low heat and that usually takes care of it but I might try shaking them out,” wrote another.
Meanwhile, several other viewers admitted to liking the crunch of their clothes.
“I kinda like the crunch tho,” said one viewer.
“I love the crunch,” wrote another.
