The motors whizz enlisted the help of a colleague to play out a staged exchange between a dealership buyer and seller.

Playing the latter, Ray quotes a price tag of £47,000 for a 2023 Ford Explorer.

The buyer then pushes back on the proposed figure.

“I have been doing a lot of research, and I have seen people buy this car for a lot less,” she tells Ray.

“I also know that this car has been sitting on your lot for 100 days.

“I’m curious if you can give me a better price for this.”

After trimming £800 from the total cost through a rebate from Ford, the seller argues she would be entitled to this saving anyway.

She continued: “I live in this zip code so I qualify for that anyway, so you didn’t go and get a discount for me.”

The seller then argues the price for MSRP is “too much”, and manages to secure a further £1600 off the vehicle.

The buyer adds that Ford offers first-responders a £400 price slash when purchasing one of their motors – taking the total savings to over £2800.

The video signs off with invaluable advice for those eyeing up a new motor during the busy festive period.

“Be informed,” they warned.

“Knowing what you should pay, what other people are paying and any information you have available will work to your advantage.”

Viewers took to the comments to applaud the expert for the savvy negotiating tips.

One said: “Both of you did a great job fun and informative. Nice to see the tide starting to turn in the costumers favour.”

A second user chimed in: “I love these type of videos!

“You’re content actually helped me pick out a mazda6 with an incredible out the door price.

“No market adjustments and no add on dealer fees!”

A third said: “Just made a great deal on a Honda Ridgeline even with very limited inventory using the CarEdge process : do your homework, visit multiple dealers, be prepared to walk.”

It comes after Ray revealed a term which makes shoppers look desperate – and could persuade salesmen to charge you more.

He added the car salesman will immediately think you’ll be willing to spend any amount of money to get the motor you want.
