Her spicy cotton ball trick is cheap and easy.
“Cinnamon oil on cotton balls in drawers, cabinets, and closets is how I keep mice out of home,” said Mary Quilter (@maryquilter1213).
She poured the oil onto her cotton ball and then distributed the balls around the house.
This included in the space next to her utensil drawer which was indeed rodent free.
There was also a reason why her property was prone to the pests.
“I have a field in front and woods in the back so they can be a problem,” she explained.
The hack had another perk as well.
“Plus it smells nice!” she said.
The quilt lover had found quite a few fans of her method who wanted to see about the spicy trick for themselves.
“I can’t wait to try this, I have used peppermint oil for a long time, I am pepperminted out cinnamon is my favorite,” joked one follower.
“I sprinkle powdered cinnamon outside for ants, so this would probably work, too. They hate it,” remarked another curious viewer.
This follower had a question before trying: “How often do you replace?”
“During fall and spring once a month, then every other month,” she replied.
According to victorpest.com, one of the most natural ways to get rid of mice and rats is with scent repellents.
These types of repellants use essential oils, such as peppermint oil and cinnamon oil, to naturally drive away rodents.
