The sportsman certainly is fortunate in more ways than one, as Perrie is now making regular visits to the country after he secured a three-year deal with Turkish side Besiktas.
We revealed how he had serious conversations with Perrie before accepting the big-money deal and it was decided she would take regular trips there to keep their relationship alive.
A source said: “It hasn’t been an easy decision because Perrie and Alex have their young son Axel to think about and they don’t want to live their lives apart.
“The deal was too good to turn down though so they are giving it a shot and are determined to make it work.
“The plan is that Alex will be back here as much as possible and during the football season Perrie will fly over regularly with their son Axel so that they can all be together.
“They know it’s not going to be straightforward but they love each other and want to support one another’s dreams. That means making some sacrifices.”
Things will get trickier when Perrie launches her solo career while Little Mix are on a hiatus.
