Occasional Digest - a story for you

A man has been charged over a fatal car crash that killed two boys in Sydney’s south-west this week.

The grey sedan crashed into a tree and power pole on Monday, before two people allegedly hopped out of the wreckage and ran from the scene.

The 13 and 14-year-old passengers, who were seated in the back seats, died at the scene.

After police launched a search to find the driver and front-seat passenger, a 23-year-old and 27-year-old were arrested at Wetherill Park police station yesterday afternoon.

They were taken to hospital under police guard to have injuries allegedly sustained during the crash assessed.

On Wednesday, the 27-year-old was released from the hospital and taken to Liverpool Police Station.

He was charged with nine offences and was refused bail.

He will appear before Liverpool Local Court today.
