GP Graham Blockey was 66 when he died of cancer last November,
Blockey got the part of Robert Snell on the long-running soap in 1986.
His role saw him play the handyman husband of village busybody Lynda Snell, who is recognised as one of the most annoying characters on the show.
He had initially auditioned for the part of a doctor in the soap but was told he didn’t sound like one and handed the part of Snell instead.
He juggled his radio work with his duties as a doctor — having trained in medicine before trying his hand at acting.
While doing the role, he did locum work at hospitals before becoming a GP at a surgery in Dorking, Surrey, in 1993.
Most of his patients seemed unaware of his radio persona as handyman character Robert.
The dad of two left his £1.1million estate to wife Christine, whom he married in 1987.
