THEY’RE one of the most ordered items on McDonald’s menu.

But the hash browns don’t come in cheap, as they cost a pricey £1.49 each.

However, one foodie has shared a quick and easy to make your own version at home – and it will save you some cash too.

Firstly, peel your potatoes, put them in some boiling water and let them sit for 10 minutes, Ben explained in a video on his TikTok page.

Once they’ve sat, strain off the water and grate the potatoes “nice and fine”.

At this point, the potatoes will be full of water, so you need to squeeze all that moisture out.

Put the grated potatoes in a tea towel over a bowl, and squeeze until they’re as dry as possible.

Then add in some cornstarch, one egg, and season to taste.

Mix it all together, and lay it on a baking tray – making it into whatever shape you like.

Pop the tray into the freezer for an hour or two.

And then prep some oil in a pan to shallow fry them in – “on medium to high heat for about 10 mins, flipping both sides”.

Once golden, carefully remove from the oil and place on a cooling rack – this will help them cool down but also remove some of the excess oil.

Once cool, they’re ready to eat, with Ben demonstrating by taking a big, crunchy bite.

“Any potato lovers?” Ben captioned his video.

And people were quick to praise him for the recipe, with one writing: “These are perfect!”

“Ooo that crunchhhhh love a crunchy hash brown,” another added.

“Can’t wait to try these!! My hubby is making them for me,” a third said.

“Easy! Was craving some..Thank you sir,” someone else wrote.

“They look so good!” another praised.

“Looks great gonna give it a try thank you,” someone else added.

Others had their own suggestions for what to add in – with some suggesting onion as others preferred the idea of cheese.

“No cheese?” one asked.

“No no no , not in this….,” Ben replied.

But some people weren’t convinced that Ben’s recipe was going to hit the spot as well as McDonald’s ones do.

“Don’t think anything can taste like a mc Donald’s hash browns, just my opinion,” one wrote.

As another added: “Looks nothing like it.

“Should just call it making homemade hash browns!”

When it comes to cooking the hash browns, air frying is an option, as well as oven baking – to make them slightly healthier.
