Occasional Digest - a story for you

It’s showtime!

No, not that show. Riyadh Season will officially begin with an opening ceremony in a few moments.

Reports suggest it’s been arranged by the same producers who do the Olympic Games ceremonies and Super Bowl half-time shows.

Expectations are high, then again, my favourite band are The Kinks and I have my doubts Ray Davies will be strolling out on stage.

No games

Francis Ngannou also chatted to the cameras while having his hands wrapped. And it’s all business from the MMA superstar.

“I know him and I know he is keen to play but I am not playing his game, I am playing mine,” he says.

“I don’t have to start fast. I need to find my pace in the fight and wait for the opportunity, whenever it comes.”

I’m a showman

Tyson’s been chatting with TNT Sports while having his hands wrapped.

“It’s nearly go time,” he says. “And here’s me still relaxed, nice and steady. I’m an entertainer. I’m a showman and that’s what I am. And we’ll get the victory, as that’s what we do.”

Joe’s verdict

You would be hard-pushed to find someone who knows more about Francis Ngannou than Fear Factor legend Joe Rogan.

I think he’s got a Podcast too.

Anyway, the legendary UFC commentator has a similar opinion to most in that Ngannou essentially has a puncher’s chance.

He said: “I do not imagine a world where Francis Ngannou can outbox Tyson Fury. I do not think that will ever take place.

“Tyson Fury is a master. His footwork, his jab, understanding.

“But what I will say is that Francis Ngannou hits like a freight train. He hits so f****** hard. The question is – will he be able to connect?”

Well, we’re going to find out shortly, Joe.
