Lithuania will host the 21st International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) in Vilnius from June 18 to 21, 2024.
The IACC, founded in 1983, is the world’s largest independent global forum for fighting corruption. It convenes policymakers, business leaders, civil society organizations, and journalists from over 140 countries to share best practices and develop new strategies to address the evolving challenges posed by corruption.
The most recent conference, held in Washington, DC in 2023, was attended by over 2,000 leaders from all sectors, including government, business, civil society, and the media. Speakers at the conference included US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, USAID Administrator Samantha Power, President of Moldova Maia Sandu, and Head of Investigations at the Anti-Corruption Foundation Maria Pevchikh.
The IACC Council chose Lithuania to host the next conference for its strategic importance and commitment to fighting corruption since gaining independence just over 30 years ago.
The 2024 IACC will focus on how to uphold principles of anti-corruption, democracy, and freedom in the face of a myriad of interconnected global threats, including climate change, lack of trust in public governance, and the spread of populist and kleptocratic regimes.
The conference will bring together policymakers, business leaders, civil society organizations, and journalists from over 140 countries to share best practices and develop new strategies for combating corruption.
The theme of the 2024 IACC is Confronting Global Threats: Standing Up for Integrity. This theme reflects the growing recognition that corruption is a major obstacle to achieving global goals such as sustainable development, peace, and security.
The conference will explore a range of topics, including:
- How to stop the flow of dirty money
- How to protect democracy and global security from corruption
- How to promote integrity and transparency in the public and private sectors
- How to support those who fight against corruption
The 2024 IACC is an important opportunity for the global community to come together to address the challenges posed by corruption. The conference will provide a platform for participants to share best practices, develop new partnerships, and strategies for upholding principles of anti-corruption, democracy, and freedom.
