MOTOR enthusiasts keen to get their hands on a vintage Mini with electric power will have to pay through the nose for the chance.

The Mini eMastered is a newly-launched version of the classic British car that’s battery-powered inside of needing petrol.

It will set back buyers more than £125,000 each, £27,000 more than the next priciest Mini in the range.

For this hefty cost, drivers will get a 18.8kW battery under the bonnet and an ability reach speeds of 110 miles per hour.

However, the eMastered can sprint from 0 to 62mph in just 8.5 seconds and has a recharging speed of up to 6.6kW.

This takes place due to compact battery being hooked to a 72kW electric motor and single speed transmission.

According to Mini, the battery can be fully replenished in just three hours.

Inside, the cars will come with luxe leather seats with ‘DB’ logos, knurled metal switchgear and a wooden steering wheel.

Although the new vehicle will take notes from its predecessors, it comes with a modern twist.

This includes a high-definition infotainment screen which hosts Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Given its high end price tag, buyers are welcome to customise their car’s paint colour, decal selections and interior material.

Michelle Gay, sales and marketing director at David Brown Automotive said the new look pays tribute to both the past and future.

“There is an inherent challenge in electrifying such an iconic model, to retain the high levels of reliability, performance, and quality that our customers expect,” she said.

“With an unwavering dedication to British craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability, we have earned global recognition for our renowned handcrafted automotive masterpieces and today we are proud to showcase our electric future.”

The new insight comes after another new Mini made its long-awaited debut at Germany’s International Motor Show last month.

But another version brand’s car is set to be discontinued as the firm behind it launches a brand new EV.
