CiCi says keeping earpieces in can be a distraction and even pose a safety risk while flying.
When distracted, passengers can bump into people, knock backpacks against fellow travellers and bash into those already seated.
She told Insider: “If you’re playing on your phone or listening to music, you can’t communicate with the people around you.
“And that’s where I see a big problem.”
CiCi documents travel tips she’s learned as a flight attendant on TikTok and Instagram under @cici.inthesky.
She says she’s constantly coming up against passengers who aren’t paying attention.
Delays can also be sparked by flyers gazing gormless at their phone as they don’t realise a line has moved.
Other issues include forgetting to put your bag in the overhead compartment, further delaying the journey for everyone else.
CiCi says she’s seen a huge increase in passengers plugging in headphones while boarding.
Many use music or podcasts to combat flight anxiety or to zone out while on a long journey.
And while Cici acknowledges the stress-busting pros of them, she says removing the headsets from the boarding process would create a happier cabin.
She said: “When you’re boarding a plane, you are doing a task and you should be focused on that task.”
