But Debbie decided to take other people’s advice and try a £1.19 spray first.
In a post on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group on Facebook, she said she’d got a bottle of the Astonish Mould & Mildew Blaster based on suggestions.
And showing pictures of her blinds both before and after she used the spray, the results were clear to see.
“Thanks to person that suggested mould cleaner spray to clean blinds,” Debbie wrote alongside her pictures.
“Bought this from Savers £1.19, look at the results, well impressed.
“Cheaper than replacing!”
People were quick to comment on the post, with one writing: “I swear by this stuff!”
“Great tip!” someone else said.
As a third added: “It’s amazing stuff”.
“I’m away to give it a go… saves buying a whole new set of blinds,” another agreed.
“This stuff is amazing and it’s cheap,” someone else praised.
While another commented: “I used this for my blinds as well worked amazing!! Mine were rank as need new windows.”
“We have some of that in the bathroom.” someone else said.
“Wish I had known about that sooner before we replaced the blinds in the bedroom!”
“My god, I have just thrown a blind out and bought a new one because of mould!” another sighed.
However, others warned you need to be careful with the spray, and shouldn’t use it on another coloured fabric as it contains bleach.
“Fine if your blinds are white but don’t use on cream or coloured as may discolour,” another warned.
“It would ruin any colours,” a second said.
As a third wrote: “Just be careful.
“I sprayed this by mistake on my boy’s blue adidas top instead of stain remover spay it left bleach stains all over it.
“So just saying wouldn’t recommend on colours.”
And someone else commented: “They would have be binned if mouldy if was me!”
“Not everyone can afford to do that,” another hit back.
