Actress Matilda Broadbridge announced that she’ll be playing the Duchess of Cambridge’s younger sister Pippa in Season 6.
Matilda has no previous acting credits to her name and auditioned for the role by submitting a self-tape.
She was subsequently cast in the role of Pippa, who will appear briefly in Season 6.
Celebrating the news on Instagram, Matilda posted a picture of her dressing room and wrote: “A very short but very sweet trip to crown land.”
She continued: “So excited to announce that I’ll be appearing as Pippa Middleton in The Crown. So grateful to have been a tiny part of this production and for this experience, keep your eyes peeled.”
Matilda joins newcomers Ed McVey and Meg Bellamy, who Netflix previously confirmed will play Prince William and Kate Middleton in the upcoming season, with the drama set to portray the early days of their relationship.
The new teaser for Season 6 portrays it as the culmination of everything that’s come before, with each Queen Elizabeth II actor, Claire Foy, Olivia Coleman, and now Imelda Staunton, setting the scene for the final chapter.
Other returning cast members include Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip, Elizabeth Debicki as Diana, Princess of Wales, Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Dominic West as Prince Charles and Olivia Williams as Camilla Parker Bowles.
Aside from Kate and Wills meeting, notable events in Season 6 will include the death of Princess Diana, the wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles, and the premiership of Tony Blair.
The series spans 1997 through to 2005, so the Netflix show will bring viewers into the current century with all the goings-on of The Royal Family.
The final season will air in two parts, with the first four episodes coming on November 16, and the final six arriving on December 14.
The Crown Season 6 debuts on November 16. Seasons 1-5 are available to stream on Netflix now.
