Trish, from Jamaica, often uses her social media account to share snippets about her life living in Norway.
But after learning there’s a better and – more to the point – “correct” way of using a grater in the kitchen, she couldn’t help but share it.
Posting a clip online, she could be seen dressed in a white T-shirt with a bright pink blazer on.
With her raven hair tied back into a ponytail, she smiled at the camera as she held a bunch of carrots and the kitchen utensil.
“I was today years old when I realised…” she wrote, “…that I was using the grater all wrong”.

She demonstrated the “wrong” way by holding the grater upright and swiping the end of a carrot downwards.
Shaking her head, she continued: “Simply turn your grater flat and everything will fall inside and not make a mess.”
TikTok user @trishisroyal then grated the carrot with the utensil lying flat on a chopping board, demonstrating how all the pieces fell onto the metallic surface.
“Thank me later,” she added as she showed the inside of the grater to the viewers.
People were left baffled by the revelation as one person wrote: “THANK YOU!! Ive used it wrong my entire life,” followed by a crying with laughter emoji.
Another said: “Smart!” as a third chimed: “Today years old? Omg!” followed by six crying with laughter emojis.
Meanwhile, another argued: “yeah but when you hold it straight, and underneath is the plate/ container it goes straight in,” alongside four crying with laughter emojis.
According to thedaringkitchen.com, this is, in fact, the correct way to use a grater.
They wrote: “Lay your box grater on its side, with the holes you’re going to use facing up.
“Then, slide your cheese block horizontally, sideways.
“You’ll get perfectly grated cheese with minimum room for injuries.”
