Frank Lampard
Frank Lampard has been out of work since a short stint as Chelsea caretaker boss ended in May

Former Chelsea and Everton manager Frank Lampard is not in the running for the vacant Rangers managerial position.

But Lampard will not be part of the club’s final-stage interview process, which will start next week.

Beale left Rangers last Sunday following a home defeat to Aberdeen.

It was a third Scottish Premiership loss in seven games for the former Queens Park Rangers manager, whose tenure was brought to an end less than a year after his appointment.

Steven Davis and Alex Rae were immediately placed in interim charge, but their caretaker spell got off to a sobering start with a poor Europa League defeat away to Aris Limassol on Thursday.

Rangers are next in action on Sunday lunchtime, when they face St Mirren in Paisley.
