The 59-year-old news presenter went to Wolverhampton for Question Time to discuss the latest news in politics.
But before she began the debate, Fiona Bruce explained to those at home watching about her mystery injuries.
The journalist appeared on screen with a black eye and her arm in a sling.
She told BBC viewers that she had a nasty accident while horse riding.
Fiona said: “I thought I’d just mention it. It’s the least interesting thing in the programme but in case you’re wondering. I broke my hand and I’ve got the remnants of a black eye because I fell off a horse. And that’s all I have to say about that.”
A few viewers took to X, formerly known as Twitter in shock.
One wrote: “Fiona Bruce says she has a broken hand and black eye because she ‘fell off a horse’.”
A second added: “That looks like a horrible accident.”
A third penned: “Fiona fell of a horse! But thankfully she seems ok.”
Fiona previously spoke out about her experience with horse riding, revealing she started learning in 2011.
She told the Daily Mail: “I started horse riding very late in life. I will always be pretty rubbish, but I love it.”
Fiona continued: “It takes me to a different place. I can’t think about anything else when I’m doing it. I love being around horses. I love the speed. I love being outdoors.”
