Tottenham vs Liverpool preview
Is anyone keeping tabs on Liverpool?
All the talks seems to have been about Manchester City’s 100% record, Arsenal dropping points, Brighton’s attacking output and Ange Postecoglou’s revolution at Tottenham.
But Liverpool are stealthily going about their business.
The Reds are sitting in second position having won five of their opening six Premier League matches, scoring a bumper 15 goals in the process.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are into 6/1 for the title, and there’s more than a glimmer of hope with City’s already thin squad stretched by injuries and suspensions.
Liverpool have beaten Aston Villa. Newcastle and West Ham already this season, and will hope to claim maximum points against another top side this weekend.
That could be easier said than done – even if they have beaten Spurs in nine of their last 11 meetings in all competitions.
Tottenham are a renewed force under Postecoglou, and they are clearly on the rise having gone six unbeaten in the league this season.
They twice came from behind to earn a point against their arch-rivals Arsenal last weekend, a week having struck twice in stoppage-time against Sheffield United.
But those results – while impressive – proves they aren’t the finished article and a point would still represent a solid result for the hosts on Saturday evening.

Tottenham vs Liverpool betting tips
Mo goals…
Mohamed Salah scores against Tottenham. It’s just a fact.
The Egyptian attacker, 31, has scored 11 goals and provided one assist against the Londoners in his last 18 appearances – only Manchester United have conceded more to him (12).
He bagged three in last year’s Premier League matches, including a brace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Salah’s form, much like Liverpool’s, has flown under the radar with the winger netting four goals and providing four assists in seven matches in the 2023-24 campaign.
No Liverpool player has had more touches in the opponents’ penalty area, nor have they bettered his 20 efforts on goal at an average of a shot every 26 minutes. He boasts an xG of 3.76 and takes penalties for a side who’ve earned three spot-kicks already.

Bookings…
Tottenham are collecting bookings like a Panini sticker album.
Spurs have registered a league-high 21 yellow cards this season – 13 more than Saturday’s opponents, who have the least yellows in the division (8).
Their committed approach and aggressive press has seen them average 3.5 bookings every match, while only Bournemouth, Wolves and Sheffield United have committed more fouls than their 74.
Destiny Udogie has been the biggest culprit, conceding more fouls than any other Tottenham player by a distance – followed by Pape Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski.

Away win…
Despite Tottenham’s progress, Liverpool are still favourites to win this clash and rightly so.
The Reds are on a run of seven-consecutive wins in all competitions, and aren’t lacking for goals having netted 3+ on five occasions already this season.
Klopp’s side have won their last three games on the road 2-1, 3-1 and 3-1 – and Tottenham’s attacking approach could offer them a great deal of joy in transition.
Liverpool have managed just a single clean sheet this year, while Spurs haven’t blanked once with only Manchester City and Brighton having scored more goals.
