Pakistan’s cricket captain, 28, was pictured looking dismayed next to his Audi after he was pulled over by traffic cops.
The cricket ace was allegedly caught speeding in his Audi A5 Sportback sedan near Lahore on September 17 – and a photo of the encounter has gone viral.
In his flip flops, sports shorts and aviators, Azam is seen listening to the police as he pulls a concerned face.
According to Geo News, the 28-year-old was forced to pay Rs2,000 [£20] for the violation, which also reportedly included driving without a valid driver’s license.
It comes as local media reported that the cricket sensation was caught by police in the past driving without proper license plates, but was allowed off without any punishment.
The news of the road violation comes as Azam was on the receiving end of heavy criticism of his team’s losses against India and Sri Lanka earlier this month at the 2023 Asia Cup.
Pakistan failed to qualify for the final and it all ended in a dismal fashion as they finished at bottom of the Super Four stage.
India went on to defeat Sri Lanka for a record-extending eighth time.
Azam will be leading the Pakistani team into the 2023 ICC World Cup tournament, which will be held in India next month.
Last week, the cricket captain was spotted attending the wedding of teammate and star bowler Shaheen Afridi.
The pair had been rumoured to be feuding during the Asia Cup matches, particularly following the team’s defeat during the last leg.
Rumours suggest that the captain and the capable left-arm pacer engaged in a verbal altercation, which resulted in a rift between the entire team.
It is alleged that Azam expressed serious dissatisfaction with the team’s poor performance, and had urged them to bring out their best performance.
In response, Afridi defended the team’s efforts and asked the captain to acknowledge the players who did well in the games.
However, the swirling rumours were put to end after the skipper attended Afridi’s wedding reception and took part in the celebrations in high spirits.
