Sue, 60, is best known for playing feisty Eileen Grimshaw on the ITV soap since 2000.

While she has no plans to leave the soap permanently, she will be taking some time away to participate in the BBC show.

This is not the first time Sue has stepped off the cobbles. Last year, she did a stint down under in the jungle.

Sue was a firm favourite on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here in 2022 and viewers were devastated when Sue was the third contestant to be voted off the series.

The Corrie legend has continued to make headlines because of her dramatic weight loss, which has seen her go from a size 16 to a size 12.

She later revealed to Prima Mag that her weight loss journey began when she was in the jungle.

“I lost some weight in the jungle, but I’m not obsessing over diets: life is hard enough! There’s always going to be outside pressure and unfair expectations placed on women, but I refuse to get pulled into it,” she said.

Sue added how happy she is with her life right now, saying that she has been thriving in her fifties, which were the happiest years of life.

As she enters this new decade of her life, it appears Sue is ready to take on a new challenge, too.

Pilgrimage is a religious reality show that sees celebs of different faiths coming together and trekking one of the world’s historical pilgrimage routes.

While a representative for the show declined to confirm Sue’s appearance, she’s expected to appear alongside an all-star line-up which includes Christine McGuinness.

Christine, 35, will join the next group of celebrities to embark on one of these epic pilgrimages. And BBC bosses hope the voyage of self-discovery will prove enlightening for the mum of three, making great telly to boot.

A source said: “Since stepping into the spotlight, Christine has bravely let fans into her personal life, from learning she is autistic at the age of 33 and parenting her three autistic children, through to the breakdown of her marriage to Paddy McGuinness.

“Pilgrimage comes at the perfect time for her, as she’s starting to shrug off heartbreak and explore the potential of finding new love.

“Traditionally, pilgrimages were taken to explore personal growth towards a place of spiritual awakening and the BBC Two programme has shown to profoundly affect its cast.

“Not only could the experience prove to be incredibly positive for Christine’s own development, bosses hope her journey will add real heart to the programme.

“Any revelations about Paddy or her current love life would, of course, go down a treat, too.”

Sue and Christine will be joined by a further five celebs who have yet to be announced.
