It’s TV’s toughest show, so it’s not surprise cast members end up getting hurt behind the scenes.
SAS leader and instructor, Billing Billingham has revealed a major mishap that happened while filming the hit show.
Billy admitted that he sometimes forgets that the camera’s are there and he “cut” his face open once on a camera.
The SAS leader said: “I still don’t see this show as a TV thing, it’s just a course. I don’t even see the cameras any more, there are many times when I’ve actually turned and banged into the camera and cut my face because I have literally forgotten that they are there. But to me, it’s just what we do. It’s not something we do for TV.”
Billy also revealed that the DS gang hope the show will go on until “they break” from old age.
He shared: “The show is never commissioned until halfway through so we never know if we’re going to be working together or not. But they are always ready for it. We’ve got such a great team and family.”
“I, for one, will do it until I can’t . I’ll keep doing it until my body can’t. I want to keep going as long as I can because it’s not all physical, it’s more mental. It would be a shame to waste all our experiences as DS. So I’ll walk out when they say I have to walk out, or when I break.”
Billy served for 20 years in the Special Air Service as a highly decorated leader.
After leaving the military he used his skills to protect the cream of Hollywood, including Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Sean Penn, Russell Crowe and Sir Michael Caine.
He joined the toughest show on TV in 2016, only to find himself once more in the background as support staff to Ant, who was axed by show bosses, and then US marine Rudy.
But thanks to his acid-tongued one-liners on the Channel 4 series he has fast become a fan favourite.
