REAL MADRID allegedly made a £60million offer for Harry Kane this summer as three of Europe’s biggest clubs battled to sign him.

And that was all after Manchester United allegedly pulled out of the transfer chase for the England captain.

Kane, 30, eventually left Tottenham for Bayern Munich in a £104m deal last month.

The striker has made a blistering start to life in the Bundesliga, scoring four goals in as many top-flight matches for his new club.

And he will be hoping to add to that tally when he faces United in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag was desperate to add the marksman to his attack while many reports also claimed that the player himself had his heart set on a move to Old Trafford.

Unfortunately for Ten Hag, once the realisation of what Tottenham would demand for him despite his contract status became clear, United switched their focus to signing Rasmus Hojlund instead.

Now The Athletic have claimed that Bayern Munich were joined by TWO other European powerhouses in their attempts to get Kane – as well as an approach from Saudi Arabia.

Kane’s camp are said to have quickly ruled out the Middle East switch, but this update states that Madrid did put together a £60m offer to Spurs for the ace.

Paris Saint-Germain “also made an approach” but it was Bayern who engaged with [Daniel] Levy to negotiate over several weeks” which eventually led to the deal getting done.

Meanwhile, Kane has broken his silence on the links with United ahead of facing them.

He said: “”Man United option for me last summer? Obviously there were talks with different clubs.

“But FC Bayern was a club I was really interested in. Once they came in there weren’t many other options.

“Manchester is a big club but I’m very happy here.”
