Premier League giants Newcastle and City both played their group stage opener on Tuesday.

Eddie Howe’s Magpies were first up on TNT Sports 1 after landing the 5.45pm kick-off.

But their performance against Milan was far from thrilling, leaving the San Siro with a 0-0 draw.

And supporters claimed they turned off in their droves to catch the build-up to Man City’s game with Red Star on TNT Sports 2.

That’s because they realised popular pundit Woods was hosting the pre-match action.

She made the switch to TNT Sports, formerly BT Sport, after leaving talkSPORT this summer.

Woods was joined on the Etihad pitch by ex-City star Joleon Lescott and former Man Utd ace Rio Ferdinand.

And fans quickly took to Twitter knowing they had made the right decision.

Another declared: “Getting Laura Woods to do a promo will most definitely make me watch Man City.”

One noted: “Switch on Newcastle coverage. No Laura Woods. Night ruined.”

Another added: “Turn on Milan Newcastle and there’s no Laura Woods… lucky they also got Reshmin Chowdhury otherwise this game wouldn’t be worth it.”
