The first sign of a failing clutch is the height of the pedal at bite point

In a video posted to their TikTok, they said the first sign of a failing clutch is the height of the pedal at bite point.

This is when the car starts to move and a good clutch will usually bite around the half way point of being raised.

But the garage’s mechanic warned drivers: “When they’re worn that bite point is exceptionally higher.

“And you’re almost completely off the pedal before it starts to move.”

Crunching sounds between first gear and reverse can also be warning signs your clutch is failing.

This suggests the clutch is not disengaging properly.

But the most commonly reported sign of a failing clutch is when it appears underpowered.

This is known as clutch slip and is a huge giveaway your clutch it bust.

He explained: “What happens is the engine revs are going up when you accelerate.

“But the vehicle itself doesn’t actually accelerate.”

At this point, take your motor to your local garage and get it replaced.
