Occasional Digest - a story for you

ASDA shoppers are rushing to buy Lego sets scanning for just 70p at the till – and they’re perfect for Christmas presents.

Retailers often slash prices on products to clear excess stock and it means you can get your hands on some absolute bargains.

And one shopper managed to find such a steal in her local Asda branch.

The savvy saver posted photos on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group of the Lego Friends kits – aimed at kids aged six and up.

Small sets were scanning for just 70p, while others were £1.50 and £2 at the supermarket in Handsworth, Sheffield.

On the Lego website, the same sets are £8.99.

The original Facebook post has been liked dozens of times, with plenty in awe of the haul.

One wrote: “Might be worth checking ours. Would be ideal for Christmas.”

Another said: “I’m going there today I’m going to look out for some.”

Of course, you should always shop around when buying any product as you might find it cheaper elsewhere.

You can use price comparison websites such as Price Spy, Price Runner and Trolley.

Meanwhile, the Google Shopping tab is a quick way to scour the internet and see what a product is on sale for at different retailers.

You might not be able to find the Lego sets for the same price in your local branch, which you can find using the retailer’s store locator.
