John, 56, had started filming in New Zealand with a raft of other famous faces including Rachel JohnsonBianca Gascoigne and Anthony Ogogo when he threw in the towel.

The famed TV personality is now set to appear on stage in a brand new musical stage play at locations across the UK.

John will be starring in selected dates of the upcoming UK tour of Dreamcoat Stars.

The show features artists who have previously played the role of Joseph in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

John will appear as a guest star at three of the show’s dates later this year.

It’s thought that John will perform a number of songs from the hit musical as well as share stories from his time in the show.

The actor and singer will also take part in meet and greets and selfie sessions with fans prior to each show.

John’s big stage comeback comes almost two years after he was dropped from his role as a judge on Dancing on Ice following accusations that he repeatedly exposed himself on the sets of Doctor Who and Torchwood.

John was also forced to cancel a planned tour of the UK last year as a result of “slow ticket sales” following the allegations.

The entertainer was due to make a TV comeback after signing up to appear on the new series of Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, but dropped out after just an hour of filming.

A source said: “John’s exit from Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins will go down in the show’s history as the fastest ever.

“They’d all got kitted up in their uniforms and had started filming in New Zealand when he chose to walk out.

“It is an incredibly mentally and physically challenging television show and the task they were facing was difficult.

“Most of the stars were shocked when after 30 minutes John said he did not want to take part any longer.

“He left pretty much then and there. It was all a bit strange and naturally, the producers who make the show weren’t best impressed to see one of their biggest stars turning on their heel and quitting before an hour was up.”

John is believed to have been flown back to UK not long after returning to the hotel where the celebrities had been in quarantine.
