No one should feel any pressure to look younger as we age, but it’s always nice to feel our body – and skin – is getting the care and TLC it deserves.
There are steps we can take and beauty products we can use to help us look and feel more youthful and energised if desired – and it doesn’t have to cost a bomb, either.

Cool as a cucumber
When it comes to maintaining healthy skin, hydration is everything, both for internal and external skin health.
We all know drinking adequate amounts of water is important for healthy skin, but so is eating water-rich foods like cucumber, and cutting back on dehydrating fluids like tea and coffee.
Eating water-rich foods not only increase your water intake, but you also have the added benefits of the nutrients.
Dehydration can affect our skin in the form of dryness and fine lines, so by keeping yourself hydrated, you will help keep your skin feeling plump and maintain your skin’s elasticity.
Treat yourself, and your skin
Externally moisturising our skin on a daily basis is vital.
Using serums that contain ingredients like hyaluronic acid, niacinamide can really boost the moisture content of our skin.
Hyaluronic acid in particular holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water.
After cleansing, apply your hyaluronic acid serum to your face, neck and décolleté, before applying any treatment, serums like vitamin C, and then seal it all in with your moisturising cream.
Vitamin C is a powerful anti-oxidant that boosts your collagen to support the structure of your skin and neutralises the free radicals that cause oxidative stress to skin and lead to premature skin ageing.
You may find tools such as cool eye roller balls to use under the eyes can have a cooling and de-puffing effect for under eye puffiness.
Boost radiance
Exfoliation is a critical part of an ageless skincare regime as it helps to remove dead skin cells and boost radiance.
When we don’t exfoliate on a regular basis, we are left with dry areas, blocked pores, uneven, texture, and fine lines.
Plus, the products that we are using to treat and nourish your skin, are not able to be absorbed effectively.
Wear SPF
If you do nothing else, the one thing you must do is protect your skin by wearing an SPF on a daily basis.
The sun ages your skin, so by using SPF it protects your skin from sun damage.
This improves the texture and clarity of your skin, as it prevents oxidative stress which leads to a lack of elasticity.
Night, night
Our bodies use night-time to regenerate, and this applies to our skin as well.
Which is why having a good nighttime skincare routine can be so effective.
During sleep, your skin’s blood flow increases, and your skin repairs its collagen and damage from UV exposure.
Take the night time as an opportunity to use those richer textures that you couldn’t wear during the day to lather on that nourishment and goodness.
You may like to use a Retinol at night, as this helps to increase the thickness and elasticity of your skin.
Build this up slowly as it could dry out your skin or cause irritation.
Manage your stress
Finally, stress and anxiety are a part of our lives that we can’t get away from and unfortunately, they can affect the health of our immune system and the health of our skin.
It’s therefore important to adopt some well-being approaches that help you to manage the stress in your life.
Stress can affect your skin as it causes increased inflammation, your glands also produce more oils when under stress, leading to more breakouts.
Stress hormones also break down the collagen and elastin in the skin, which can speed up the ageing process and lead to more fine lines and wrinkles.
