Vicky explained that she’d shelled out on the Creme de la Mer translucent powder – among many other pricey powders – but insisted it doesn’t work when it comes to controlling her shine.

So instead, she uses a product you’d usually find in your kitchen cupboard – baking soda.
“The billion dollar make-up industry really does not want you to know this hack, ok?” Vicky began her TikTok video.
“I was just in the middle of doing my make-up and I wanted to show you what I do. I think it will work for everybody.
“I mean, it always works for me.
“I do have this La Mer translucent powder. I have lots of powders and none of them work, not for me anyway.
“A dear friend of mine that is an actress from France told me about this years ago and I swear, I always come back to it.
“This is just baking soda – I have this tiny little strainer so that I can just get a little bit.
“It’s 100% organic and natural this way. I get this baking soda from a health food store so I just need a tiny bit.”
She puts the baking soda on a plate, before using a large brush to apply it to her face in the areas she wants to stay matte.
“Just watch for a second, I just want you to see what happens,” shr continued.
“Because believe me, I’ll go to Sephora and I’ll go to like all these beauty counters and they sell me these powders.
“But I don’t know, maybe it’s me but I don’t get it.
“When I bought the La Mer powder they said, ‘Oh, it’s going to last all day’.
“This stuff (baking soda) lasts all day… I end up like not shiny, for all day.”
As Vicky is in the US, baking soda is what they call bicarbonate of soda – which you can pick up for around £1 in most supermarkets.
People were quick to comment on Vicky’s video, with one writing: “Baby powder works well for me too!”
“Amazing!! Will try that as well,” Vicky replied.
“Cornstarch work well too,” another suggested.
“It’s great! The powders don’t work for me either. And they sit in my fine lines. So I’m gonna try this,” a third added.
“It’s my sons wedding tomorrow.. I’m doing this thank you,” someone else wrote.
“I use rice powder and swear by it. Gotta try this one,” another said.
As someone else commented: “I love how natural this is!”
“Yes!” Vicky responded.
“No unnecessary chemicals on your face! I always preach for natural solutions.”
