Wimbledon champions Neal Skupski and Wesley Koolhof cruised into the second round of the men’s doubles at the US Open on Thursday.
The British-Dutch pair beat American duo Ben Shelton and Christopher Eubanks 7-5 7-6 (7-5) on court seven.
The top seeds will face Colombian pair Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah in the last 32.
Heather Watson won her opener in the women’s doubles and fellow Briton Jamie Murray enjoyed victory in the mixed.
Watson and Kazakh partner Anna Danilina defeated Americans Emma Navarro and Peyton Stearns 6-2 6-4 in what was the Briton’s first women’s doubles win at the US Open since 2016.
Murray and American partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands – who won the mixed title together in 2018 and 2019 – opened their mixed campaign with a 7-6 (7-4) 0-6 10-4 victory over Brazil’s Marcelo Melo and Czech Katerina Siniakova.
But Britain’s Katie Boulter, having beaten China’s Wang Yafan in three sets in singles earlier on Thursday to reach the third round, fell to a straight-set defeat in the opening round of the women’s doubles.
She and Kazakh partner Yulia Putintseva lost 6-3 6-3 to China’s Zhu Lin and Wu Fang-hsien of Chinese Taipei.
