Occasional Digest - a story for you

IT is no wonder Beyonce can afford striking outfits like this on stage every night – her Renaissance World Tour has just given her the highest-grossing tour for a female artist.

It has so far made whopping £346million and she’s still got nine of her 56 dates to play, after another sell-out show at the SoFi Stadium in California last night.

Beyonce’s tour has smashed Madonna’s record of £324million with the Sticky & Sweet Tour

The Break My Soul singer’s first solo circuit since The Formation World Tour in 2016 has smashed Madonna’s record of £324million with the Sticky & Sweet Tour from 2008 to 2009.

The jaunt across Europe and North America was announced back in February in support of her seventh studio album Renaissance.

Since it kicked off in Stockholm in May, it has broken a series of records – and websites.

Five dates at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London in May and June made £33million alone and ticket demand was so high the Ticketmaster site crashed.

Pink also proved to be a huge money spinner with her Beautiful Trauma World Tour in 2018 and 2019 but it is Taylor Swift who Bey needs to watch out for.

By the time her Eras Tour ends in November, she will have played 146 shows – 90 more than Beyonce – and could well have overtaken the 32-time Grammy winner.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if both superstars keep adding more shows to ensure that the money continues to pour in.

TONED JARED LOOKS AB FAB

HOW on Earth is this man 51 and what do I need to do to look like him?

Jared Leto showed off his ridiculously lean physique in a post on Instagram as he enjoyed a break in the US ahead of his return to music.

Last year he launched a beauty brand called Twentynine Palms featuring moisturisers, shampoos and eye cream, but I don’t think any of those things will give me his abs.

His band 30 Seconds To Mars will release their sixth album next month, and sharing these snaps was a savvy way of promoting it.

He wrote: “Got to spend some time in the great wide open. Album is out in just 17 DAYS!!!!”

Kylie song revives a name game with rival

COULD Kylie Minogue be taking a pop at Kylie Jenner in her new song?

Plenty of fans seem to think so, six years after a legal wrangle over their first name, when the American reality TV star tried to trademark it.

The Padam Padam hitmaker opens her latest track Tension with the lyrics: “I’m a star, babe. Do this all day.”

Then at the beginning of the second verse, she tellingly says: “Call me Kylie. Don’t imitate.”

The Aussie singer, who has been known by just her first name since long before the other Kylie was born in 1997, had objected to the American’s bid to trademark the name Kylie.

Her lawyers dismissed the Kardashians star as a “secondary reality TV personality” who was just a “supporting character” on her family’s show.

The Australian singer said last year: “When I was named Kylie, I met one person older than me called Kylie, so it’s unusual.

“I’ve spent a lifetime protecting my brand and building my brand so it was just something that had to be done. Let me also say we came to an agreement.”

Somehow I can’t see Kylie Jenner racing to Las Vegas to see the other Kylie’s residency when it kicks off in November.

Last night the singer announced a one-off gig at the O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in West London, for which Virgin Media broad-band and O2 customers can enter a prize draw to win tickets via the Priority app.

She said: “It’s going to be a special evening playing some favourites from throughout my career and, of course, from my new album out that week.”

DUO SNOW LONGER IN PATROL

TWO members of Snow Patrol have quit, leaving remaining members Gary Lightbody, Johnny McDaid and Nathan Connolly to carry on.

The trio said in an Instagram post they were “heartbroken” drummer Jonny Quinn and bassist Paul Wilson had left.

Singer Gary wrote: “We wish them nothing but happiness, success, joy, compassion and everything they want in their future endeavours.

“Nate, JMD and myself will continue with SP and there will be a new album next year.”

The group, whose hits include Chasing Cars and Run, formed in Dundee in 1994 with Jonny joining in 1998 and Paul in 2005.

They have been a mainstay at festivals for years and I’m sure this will be devastating to fans.

But as the band have vowed to carry on as a trio, I’m sure there will be more to come.
