However Fred, 51, has opened up a particularly memorable behind the scenes scenario.

He appeared on the Saving Grace Podcast where he spoke for the first time about a distinctive rare moment that was never shown on camera.

The star was quizzed by the host on how much contributors are allowed to drink on First Dates, to which he gave a very surprising answer.

“As much as they want,” he confidently replied.

“In the first series, we had this girl that came in and she was totally drunk.

“She was she was dancing right on time at the bar all by herself before she even asked for her first drink.”

The reality TV personality went onto explain that he feels a ‘responsibility’ for the welfare of his customers and he has no qualms about stepping in if needs be.

Fred said: “She was so drunk I just stopped the date because we have a responsibility as a restaurant, you know, to make sure that we look after people.”

The host, Grace Keeling (aka GK Barry), then said she couldn’t imagine herself as the person who would have to sit and watch themselves back and look ‘black out drunk’ on TV.

However the expert admitted that it does not happen very often and it has only happened on a few occasions.

He admitted: “From time to time you get somebody who gets a bit drunk, or a bit tipsy.

“I think a drink [is for] a social drink, [or] for Dutch courage or full enjoyment.”
