Occasional Digest - a story for you

A DOG owner was thrilled by her gorgeous, but expensive new pup she bought online – until it started to grow.

The pooch’s new parent quickly discovered that what she had been sold was no Teacup Chihuahua.

In the TikTok, posted by @dionsapi, she describes her excitement at “finally” finding the very specific dog breed to buy.

The mum had happily paid $400 [£300] for what she believed was a Teacup Chihuahua – a claim that became increasingly torn apart with every day the dog got older.

In each new picture, the puppy continues to grow in size and becomes particularly elongated.

Four months on and its owner could barely hold the strange-looking animal in her arms and knew that she’d been the victim of a scam.

Luckily, alongside some hilarious images of the bizarre pup in little pink outfits, she wrote: “But I love her more than anything”.

TikTok users rushed to the comment section to share their own theories on what kind of breed the dog was, if it even was a dog.

One wrote: “That’s not a hyena?”

Another chimed in: “OMG I HAVE THE SAME TOY BEAR EXACTLY LIKE THAT!!!”

It seemed the new pup owner wasn’t the only to fall for a Teacup Chihuahua scam.

“Been there done that …. I drove for hours for out tea cup and now she is a 3 gallon,” a user shared.

Another added: “That happened to us…lmao.”

It comes as a man has told of how he bought a “purebred” Golden Retriever online for £23 but was left appalled when his new dog arrived in the post.

Liu, from China, excitedly purchased his fluffy new pooch – only to be sent something completely different.

Elsewhere, a couple paid £1,800 for a purebred Pomeranian only to discover they were scammed in the sale.

The animal lovers claimed they were duped into buying a different breed in a dodgy deal, seeing them warn others to “do your research.”

Another scam involved the purchase of a purebred £1.7k goldendoodle puppy, which turned out to grow into something shockingly different.
