Occasional Digest - a story for you

FANS have been left gobsmacked by the dressing room Cristiano Ronaldo had to play in at Al-Nassr on Friday.

Nassr faced a trip to Al-Fateh, who have not received the same cash injection from the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) that Al-Nassr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli.

A Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick and Sadio Mane brace saw Al-Nassr triumph 5-0 over Fateh, who sit ninth in the Saudi Pro League.

It wasn’t just the scoreline that demonstrated the gulf in class between the sides – with fans being horrified at the quality of the dressing room at the Prince Abdullah Bin Jalawi Stadium.

A series of red conference-room style chairs were plopped onto a white tile floor that looked more like a 1980s kitchen than a professional dressing room.

And Ronaldo‘s team-mate’s kits looked to have been carelessly plopped on the top of each chair in scenes akin to Sunday League football.

Fans reacted to the threadbare dressing room on Twitter, with one saying: “Thought the Saudi League was rich.”

Another wrote: “This is non league football.”

A third fan wrote: “MLS >”

While a fourth appalled Twitter user wrote: “Were they having a children’s party before the game?”

Another joked: “Ronaldo getting changed in a conference room there.”

A final person wrote: “Oh Ronaldo…. The places you have fallen to..”

But fans were also quick to point out that Ronaldo’s own dressing room was a far cry from the surroundings at Al-Fateh.

Al-Nassr’s home dressing room at the Al-Awwal Park is amply spacious, complete with plush seats and a stylish design on the walls and ceiling.

Al-Nassr will play Al-Shabbab at home this evening at 7pm British time, and their players will no doubt be grateful to return to their home dressing room comforts.
