So a mum has come up with a hack to help make the process easier for everyone involved – and she claims it even stops your kids from kicking the seat in front.
Mumfluencer the 5am mama, aka TikTok’s @the5am.mama, took to her profile to share her advice with other parents travelling this summer and beyond.
She advised them to use one of their trusty muslin cloths and get inventive.
The 5am mama explained: “Next time you travel with a toddler, take a giant muslin and tuck it in the seat pocket so they can sit with their feet up.”
She then showed the hack in action, as her three-year-old sat comfortably without fidgeting as their feet rested in the air in a hammock style contraption.
The mum then revealed in the comments: “Her legs weren’t long enough [to kick the seat in front].
“Nothing worse than being kicked in the back for an entire flight.”
She later added: “My three year old’s legs weren’t long enough to reach.
“I tried my six year old and it definitely didn’t work on her.”
After she shared the video on the social media platform, it quickly attracted the attention of fellow parents.
In no time at all, it had racked up 24k hits – but it also quickly split people’s opinion down the middle.
On the one hand, many mums and dads – and fellow passengers loved the idea.
For instance, one TikTok user wrote: “GENIUS.” As a second joined in with the praise and said: “Great idea.”
While a third pointed out an additional benefit, as they typed: “Also helpful for keeping small toys off the floor and out of the cracks.”
Yet others weren’t so sure about the idea and picked apart the hack.
One wrote: “My kid would be kicking for sure haha, but good idea!”
As a second critic said: “No better not do that.”
And another typed: “Don’t sit behind me, thanks.”
