Michael Murphy has been appointed the Northern Territory’s new police commissioner, almost five months after he began acting in the role.
A deputy commissioner since 2018, Mr Murphy stepped into the top job on an interim basis in April.
It came after media reports speculated he had been asked to resign by the government.
Commissioner Murphy joined NT Police in 1997, rising to become a superintendent in 2008 and commander in 2011.
He was appointed as assistant commissioner in 2017, then deputy commissioner in 2018.
