Occasional Digest - a story for you

Attention Drag Race fans! The Queen of All Queens, Jinkx Monsoon, has earned another prestigious title.

Since June, the beloved drag performer has travelled to 40 cities across the US and Canada on her critically acclaimed tour Everything at Stake.

Teaming up with her “musical main squeeze” Major Scales, and “full rock band,” Jinkx performs music from her lauded first two albums, The Ginger Snapped and The Inevitable Album, as well as covers from some of music’s biggest talents like Judy Garland, and Katy Perry.

On 14 August, the Drag Race All-Stars talent closed out the tour in her hometown of Portland, Oregon, which was packed with dedicated fans.

While the evening was a bittersweet affair, it also featured an array of wholesome moments, including a heartwarming interaction between Jinkx and The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

Towards the end of the show, the local chapter of the LGBTQ+ organisation – also known as the Order of Benevolent Bliss – inducted the Doctor Who star as a saint.

“In recognition of their outstanding support and representation of the queer community, the promulgation of joy, championing the weird, bringing Portland to the world’s main stage as the Queen of All Queens, promoting the importance of living life as one’s authentic self, and as the ORIGINAL youngest MILF in the Great Northwest able to fit a whole peanut butter sandwich in their mouth,” a nun from the organisation exclaimed while on stage.

“We hereby bestow upon Jinkx Monsoon, the canonisation of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Order of Benevolent Bliss.”

The sweet moment was met with ecstatic cheers from the crowd and an emotional response from Jinkx, who was also given a certificate solidifying her sainthood.

A few days after receiving the holy honour, the 35-year-old talent took to Instagram to express her excitement and gratitude.

“Say hello to ‘Saint Abby Fab High Priestess of Heca-THEY, Patron Saint of Gems, Prison Broads, and Tardis,’” she wrote.

“I’m deeply and graciously moved by this honor— to have been canonised by the Portland Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence is something I never saw coming but that I humbly accept.”

In response to the post, fans flocked to her comment section with celebratory messages.

One person commented: “So so happy for you, you truly deserve this mama.”

Another fan wrote: “Such an amazing evening and so honored to have been one of the many witnesses of this auspicious occasion. Blessed be!”

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence “are a leading-edge Order of queer and trans nuns” that take part in community service, ministry and outreach.

From Queen of All Queens and Broadway siren to TV star and saint, Jinkx Monsoon’s star is showing no signs of slowing down.
