Occasional Digest - a story for you

Three people have been taken to hospital after a fire caused a home to partially collapse in Brisbane’s east overnight.

Video shared online shows at least three homes were alight in Hawthorne.

Emergency crews were called to the blaze on Forbes Street just after 8pm on Saturday.

One man, in his 40s, suffered serious burns to his head, chest, back, arms and legs and was rushed to hospital in a serious condition.

Two other men, both in their 30s, were taken to hospital in stable conditions for smoke inhalation.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) confirmed one home was “destroyed”, while another had three-quarters damaged by the blaze, and a third had minor damage to its roof.

Fire investigators will examine the scene today to try to find the cause of the blaze, but at this stage police have said it is not being treated as suspicious.

QFES said they were called to the scene to find one house well-involved in the fire.

More to come.
