The risk-taking motorist was filmed using a dash cam by the driver behind, with the clip later shared on social media.
The footage shows the woman leaving the car and retrieving what appears to be a shopping bag from the boot – an incredibly risky action on the live carriageway with lots of fast-moving traffic.
The woman was driving a Mercedes, but it’s unknown if there were any passengers in the car.
The video was uploaded by @funnfactory3 to TikTok – with the caption: “And they stopped to get something from the back of the car?”
The Highway Code says: “You MUST NOT stop on any carriageway, emergency area, hard shoulder, slip road, central reservation or verge except in an emergency, or when told to do so by the police, traffic officers, an emergency sign or red flashing light signals.
“Do not stop on any part of a motorway to make or receive mobile telephone calls, except in an emergency.”
The video has gone viral on TikTok with more than 300,000 views – and most users were shocked at the woman’s behaviour.
One said: “This could have ended very badly.”
Another said: “Is that not illegal.”
A third pointed out: “Just when you think you’ve seen it all on a dual carriageway.”
