Back in April, the beloved talent revealed that she was undergoing hormone replacement therapy after fans pointed out a change in her appearance.
“I’m genuinely so glad so many people are learning what HRT is and how it CAN and HAS helped so many because of my tweet,” she tweeted at the time.
“I was super nervous to be public about this bc I’ve always been so private when it comes to this, but seeing conversations started bc of me is amazing.”
Since opening up about her HRT journey, Tyson has remained relatively silent about her gender identity… until now.
In a recent interview with fellow YouTuber Anthony Padilla, the beloved social media star publically shared her new name, pronouns and trans identity for the first time.
“I am a woman. She/her! I’ve never said that publically, but I’ve been fully confident in that decision for over a year now,” she revealed.
“I for the longest time, to even say it to some of my closest friends, my hands would shake to say it, I would get so nervous. But now, I say ‘I’m a woman,’ I’m happy to say ‘I’m a woman.’ It’s something that’s honestly so freeing.”
Elsewhere in her interview, Tyson gave further insight into how she navigated her gender journey.
“My idea was to kind of play catch up with the internet in the way, I discovered myself,” she explained.
“Six, seven months ago, my hair started growing out all these kinds of things, I wasn’t quite sure exactly who I was yet, but I knew I was not cis-gendered.
“So I needed the freedom to be able to express myself and to be able to figure out who I was.”
Tyson went on to reveal that she identified as gender-fluid for a while.
However, after talking to a therapist and undergoing moments of self-reflection, she realised that societal pressure and her public MrBeast persona prevented her from fully embracing her trans identity.
“And I was scared that people would think I would magically become a different person. But for me, I am very proud of who I was and how I got here,” she said.
Towards the end of her sit down, Tyson reflected on how friends noticed a positive change in her demeanour and personality after starting HRT and coming out as trans.
“I literally had people within the first like couple of months of like me coming out… they were like you’ve just been talking so much more, and you just seem so much more present in the conversation, and I was noticing that myself,” she said.
When asked about her future and what she’s most excited about, Tyson responded. “I can do anything now. I can be who I want to be… so I feel like the future is kinda whatever I want it to be right now.”
