Occasional Digest - a story for you

Emergency services have been called to the Hume Highway in southern New South Wales after a “serious” crash between two trucks.

Northbound lanes have been cut off at Tarcutta, about 50 kilometres east of Wagga Wagga, due to the crash that happened about 4.30am Thursday.

A Fire and Rescue NSW spokesperson said multiple crews were on the scene clearing the wreckage from the two B-doubles.

The spokesperson said at least one person was trapped, but there was no further information about the condition of the drivers.

There is “no forecast” for when the road will re-open, according to the Transport Management Centre.

Vehicles travelling northbound are being diverted via Tumbarumba Road to Alfredtown, then the Sturt Highway to rejoin the Hume Highway at Tarcutta.

One of the b-doubles was reportedly carrying general freight, while the other was hauling frozen goods.

More to come.
