Stanley Tucci ‘didn’t want to feel old’ with Felicity Blunt age gap

Occasional Digest - a story for you

For Stanley Tucci, true love is the real fountain of youth.

During an appearance on the BBC Radio 4 show “Desert Island Discs” earlier this month, the actor opened up about his early relationship with wife Felicity Blunt, whom he met at the premiere of his 2006 film “The Devil Wears Prada.” Blunt, a literary agent, is sister of Tucci’s “Prada” co-star Emily Blunt.

Tucci said he was initially hesitant about dating Blunt following the death of his first wife, Kate Tucci, who died of breast cancer in 2009.

I was afraid to get into a relationship, and I kept trying to break it off,” Tucci said on the July 2 episode.

The 62-year-old “Citadel” star said he was also wary of the two-decade age gap between him and Blunt.

“I’m 21 years older than she is, and I didn’t want to feel old for the rest of my life,” Tucci said. “But I knew that this was an incredibly special person.”

Tucci and Blunt went on to marry in 2012, and the couple has two children together: son Matteo Oliver, 8, and daughter Emilia Giovanna, 5. Tucci has three children from his marriage to Kate: daughter Camilla, 21, and twins Nicolo and Isabel, 23.

“Felicity has been so incredible, taking on a widower and three children whose mother died,” Tucci said. “That’s a huge thing at a very young age. If anybody made things better for all of us, it’s her. She’s the one.”
