A 51-year-old man has been charged with murdering his partner after allegedly assaulting her with a “blunt weapon” in Alice Springs.

Northern Territory Police arrested the man on Saturday after a 47-year-old woman died at a bush camp near Stott Terrace.

The man was charged on Sunday night with murder, breach of a domestic violence order and being armed with an offensive weapon at night.

Police have not yet revealed further information about the weapon allegedly used. 

The man has been remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.

Police are continuing to urge the public to come forward with any information related to the incident.
