Australian sprinter Caleb Ewan has abandoned this year’s Tour de France on the 13th stage from Châtillon-sur-Charlaronne to Grand Colombier.
Ewan was dropped from the back of the peloton during the uncategorised climb to Hauteville with around 50 kilometres to go in the 137.8-kilometre stage.
The 29-year-old was unable to claim victory in this year’s race, finishing second on stage four and third on stage three.
The most recent of his five stage wins at the Tour came on stage 11 in the 2020 edition.
Ewan has now only finished three of the 11 grand tours he has ridden in.
More to come.
