The successful applicants will get to search and buy antique Doctor Who items, which they will then go and auction.
The BBC will begin filming for the new series in August/September 2023.
Interested candidates are strictly instructed to put “Dr Who” after their full name on the application form for a chance to be chosen.
The casting call was posted on the BBC website instead of the Bargain Hunt website.
The Twitter page that announced the Doctor Who news was @DoctorwhoPN, who penned: “The BBC is looking for Doctor Who fans for ‘Bargain Hunt’ for filming August/September 2023. Apply below. https://bbc.co.uk/showsandtours/bargain-hunt-application-form.”
Doctor Who and Bargain Hunt fans were quick to comment as one wrote: “How would that even work? Where would you find that much secondhand Who stuff ?And would it even sell at auction.”
A second commented: “Applied- forgot to put Doctor Who after my name though, although i did mention Doctor Who in my application. Hope this will be ok!”
A third penned: “This will be the funniest way to get the Daleks Master plan back”
A fourth expressed: “Cursing myself for living in NZ rn”
A fifth asked: “How did you find this out? I can’t find anything on the Bargain Hunt website.
A cut-off date for applications has yet to be confirmed.
Bargain Hunt airs on BBC One at 4.30 pm on weekdays.
