One of three men charged over a home invasion in Brisbane’s west on the weekend where three people were attacked with knives was on a return-to-prison warrant, a court has heard.

A pet dog was also killed in the incident in Forest Lake, after the men allegedly tried to coax the victims outside by taking it hostage.

Officers said when that didn’t work, they stabbed the animal and it later died.

Three occupants suffered stab wounds when they ran outside to help the animal.

Alex Edward Deng, 20, and Aron Nsengiyumva, 21, are facing charges including wounding, serious animal cruelty and threatening violence.

Mr Nsengiyumva is also facing charges of attempted robbery and possessing counterfeit money.

Police arrived at the scene and quickly arrested the alleged offenders.()

A 24-year-old man from Goodna, also charged over the home invasion, faced Richlands magistrate court yesterday.

It is alleged two of the men tried to buy an e-scooter from the occupants of the Forest Lake home with counterfeit money.

When the occupants became suspicious and tried to turn them away, the pair allegedly pulled out a knife.
