A police operation is underway in Sydney’s east after reports of multiple gunshots.
The incident took place around Spring Street at Bondi Junction.
Waverley Council says the area between Spring Street and Denison Street is closed to all traffic including pedestrians for the next few hours.
NSW Police has issued a holding statement, but could not confirm whether there had been any victims.
“A police operation is underway on Spring Street, Bondi Junction following reports of shots fired,” they said.
“Road closures are in place and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
“More information will be provided once it becomes available.”
NSW Police confirmed the incident was not a police shooting.
It is understood shots were fired in a car park.
A car was found burnt out at the nearby suburb of Zetland in Sydney’s south.
It is not known whether the car was linked to the shooting.
