TikTok user known as @budgetjonesdiary went onto the social media site to tell how renting out her driveway was a way to make some easy cash.
In a brief clip, the savvy “budgeting bestie” said via some onscreen captions: “Renting my driveway earned £480 pa.”
She added at the end: “Unbelievable.”
In another related post, she also gave her four rules that she lived by as a side hustler.
Firstly, she said it was important to have a separate bank account for all your side hustle earnings.
She said the biggest mistake she sees is that people just jumble up all their transactions which then makes things “too complicated” to sort through when it comes to the end of the tax year.
Her second tip was to regularly track your income and expenditure, which helps with your cash flow and also allows you to see what you’re doing well on and where things could be improved.
The third tip was to “keep organised”.
She said she has a Google drive where she saves all her invoices and receipts and that helps keep the admin down to a minimum if done either on a daily or weekly basis.
Lastly, she said to make sure you are setting money aside for tax.
She advised to use a different pot and put some money aside when you put money into your business account.
This will not only save a lot of hassle when it comes to the end of the tax year but also prevent any nasty surprises.
A similar side hustle was revealed by Joe Gorham, from Brighton, Sussex, who said he made extra income by renting out extra parking spaces on his driveway.
