Australia has been handed a reality check ahead of the women’s Ashes, with England A piling on 9-562 in their warm-up game ahead of the sole Test.

After Australia was all out for 284 in the first innings, the hosts made far better use of a flat Leicester wicket on the second day of the three-day match on Friday.
Two English batters hit centuries, with Lauren Winfield-Hill notching up 106 and number eight Paige Scholfield 102.
The only positive for Australia was 4-69 for Kim Garth, who now appears certain to make her Test debut for Australia on Thursday at Nottingham after moving from Ireland.
“It was a tough day out there, but I think there are a lot of positives to come out of it though,” Garth said afterwards.
“We regrouped as a bowling unit yesterday and spoke about the lengths we wanted to bowl today and we did that.
“I think we actually did quite well on a wicket that is not offering much for the bowlers.”
Garth was adamant that the team spending 90 overs in the field in one day would help ahead of the Ashes Test, which kicks off the multi-format series.
“If you ask the coaching staff upstairs, they would’ve wanted a game like this rather than cruising through three days of cricket,” Garth said.
“There is plenty to take out of it leading into next week.”
England’s top side has had a far more positive lead into the Test, going to stumps at 7-611 against Australia A in Derby.
Tammy Beaumont scored 201 for the hosts, while Heather Knight, Natalie Sciver-Brunt and Sophia Dunkley all posted half-centuries.
Australia A had been bowled out for 221 on day one of that match.
