MARTIN Lewis has issued crucial advice for boosting your state pension as he returned to TV with a Money Show Live special.
Speaking live on ITV on Tuesday night, the UK’s Money Saving Expert shared how Brits could plug gaps in their National Insurance records.
In a case study, a woman told how she doubled her state pension from around £100 to £200 a week by purchasing National Insurance contributions.
Although it did cost her £12,000 to plug gaps in her records, Martin said she will be an estimated £95,000 better off across the next 20 years.
The Good Morning Britain also urged older Brits on a low income to check if they can claim Pension Credit.
If you’re eligible, this benefit could top up your income to £201.05 per week for single people and to £306.85 for couples.
