The brand new programme kicked off this week but it appears that fans have been left less than impressed with what they had to witness.
Jo plays the role of Laura in the show and is accompanied by fellow actress Rachel Shenton, playing the role of a woman with a perfect life.
However, when Rachel’s character Emily arrives and befriends Laura, her life is turned upside down.
But fans have been left calling the programme ‘nonsense’ as it failed to live up to their expectations.
Jo’s character Laura is a lawyer but fans have been left slamming the show’s writing and its characterisation as they insist there is inconsistencies between Laura, her intelligence and her profession.
One fan fumed: “This is absolute rubbish and totally unbelievable nonsense, how can a lawyer be so stupid!”
Another echoed: “For a so-called Lawyer Laura’s not the brightest is she?! All this started when she met ‘Emily’ yet the penny still hasn’t dropped!”
A third penned: “For a lawyer she’s not very fast at putting this all together….”
The comments did not stop there as they continued to roll in to slam the Channel 5 programme.
One watcher added: “Laura’s stupidity is p***ing me off. Why are you telling someone you were suspicious of your whole life story?!”
Before someone else chimed in to say: “This is good but who would let someone into their home and be so familiar with their life so quickly.”
Speaking about signing up for the new thriller, Jo said: “There is such a contradiction with the character of Laura, so focused and organised in her work life and yet chaotic and insecure with her home life. I feel it really resonates.”
In the drama, Jo is reunited with her on screen mum from EastEnders, Ann Mitchell.
The actress, 46, joined Holly Willoughby and Josie Gibson on ITV’s This Morning on Monday.
Jo played Tanya Branning on EastEnders, while Ann portrayed her mother Cora Cross on the BBC One soap.
Jo, who is Laura, and Ann, who is Maggie, play a mother and daughter.
She told the hosts on the show: “It was so nice to tell a story about two women, because I’m often paired with men, some wonderful men like that I’ve worked with over the years.
“I work really well in a duo with men but it’s really nice to be with a woman.
“Female relationships are complex and it reminds me of when you’re at school, when you think someone has said something double-edged.”
